Endoscopy

An endoscopy is a method used in medicine to examine the inside of your body. The endoscopy technique uses an endoscope to inspect the inside of a cavity or hollow organ of the body. Unlike several other medical imaging methods, endoscopes are inserted straight into the organ. There are many types of endoscopies.
Your physician may refer you for an endoscopy if you are having particular symptoms. The procedure is generally performed at an endoscopy unit in a hospital.
Depending on the location of the body and the kind of procedure, an endoscopy may be conducted by either a physician or a surgeon.

Colonoscopy

02

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is an analysis of the inside of your large intestine (colon). It helps diagnose gastrointestinal disorders, such as inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer. It can also aid in treating and preventing colon cancer. Doctors advise routine colonoscopies for middle-aged and older adults to screen for cancer.

03

Therapeutic endoscopy

Therapeutic endoscopy is an approach to treat an issue with your upper gastrointestinal tract (small intestine, mouth, oesophagus, stomach). This procedure is sometimes known as a therapeutic gastroscopy or upper GI endoscopy.

Endoscopic Ultrasound

04

Endoscopic Ultrasound

Endoscopic ultrasound works similar to abdominal ultrasound, except the source of the sound waves is inside your body. As the high frequency sound waves travel from the echoendoscope, they hit tissues of various densities and bounce back. EUS can help diagnose conditions in the upper GI tract (oesophagus, stomach and duodenum), the lower GI tract (colon and rectum) and nearby organs including the lungs, pancreas, liver and gallbladder.

05

ERCP

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a technique that uses a combination of luminal endoscopy and fluoroscopic imaging to diagnose and treat conditions associated with the pancreatobiliary system. The endoscopic portion of the examination uses a side-viewing duodenoscope that is passed through the oesophagus and stomach and into the second portion of the duodenum.

Capsule endoscopy

06

Capsule Endoscopy

Capsule endoscopy is a procedure that uses a tiny wireless camera to take pictures of your digestive tract. A capsule endoscopy camera sits inside a vitamin-size capsule you swallow. As the capsule travels through your digestive tract, the camera takes thousands of pictures that are transmitted to a recorder you wear on a belt around your waist.

07

Enteroscopy

Enteroscopy is the method of using an endoscope to directly visualise the small bowel. Normally, the word could likely refer to any bowel endoscopy, but it is usually limited to small bowel endoscopy, in contrast to colonoscopy, which is large bowel endoscopy.

Third space endoscopy

08

Third space endoscopy

Third-space endoscopy confines several endoscopic techniques that are performed in the “third space”, which is the likely space inside the wall of the GI tract. Most often, this means working in the submucosal layer of the organ wall.

FibroScan

FibroScan is a kind of liver elastography. FibroScan is an exceptional ultrasound technology that calculates liver stiffness (hardness) and fatty transformations in your liver. These measures help your doctor to understand more about your liver disease.

  • Diagnostic Upper G.I. endoscopy & Colonoscopy.

  • A very thin endoscope (paediatric endoscopy) for small children

  • Therapeutic endoscopies like sclerotherapy, variceal banding, coagulation, and hemoclip application to stop ongoing Gl bleeding

  • Dilatation (widening) of narrowed food passage

  • Removal of the small tumour by endoscope without surgery (polypectomy).

  • Liver biopsy. [Both USG-guided percutaneous liver biopsy & trans-jugular liver biopsy (TJLB)]

  • Fibroscan [for noninvasive (painless) assessment of liver fibrosis]

  • Breath tests for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth and H pylori infection

  • Enteroscopy (endoscopy of the small intestine) to find out the cause of unexplained anaemia, obscure GI bleeding, diarrhoea

Liver biopsy

A liver biopsy is a test that takes a sample of tissue from the liver for analysis. A liver biopsy is not a standard procedure but is carried out when it is critical to confine the presence of liver disease and to look for parasites, cysts, malignancy, or other pathology.
